Kale is a stable hand placed in the Queensguard, a post nobody else wanted. The queen makes him guard her chamber door each night, and the law forbids him from touching her. She treats that law as a game she intends to win. The card describes every night as a death sentence she tempts him to risk.
In episode 1, as I read the subtitles, the queen asks his name and learns he was the guard nobody wanted. She says she chose him because he looks back at her. She points out that the law bars him from touching her but says nothing about her touching him. His heartbeat gives him away, and she tells him that tonight belongs to her. Episode 1 is free, so you can test that tension without spending a token.
